PRRT - Primal Reflex Release Technique

I have trained in a new system of treatment called: Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT). PPRT is very gentle but quite effective. It is based on the premise that our Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is being hyperactive due to the up-regulation of a few primal reflexes we are born with namely the:

  • Startle Reflex
  • Withdrawal Reflex
  • Joint Protection Reflex

This up-regulation triggers hyper-firing of the Sympathetic Nervous System resulting in increased tone of the musculature; beyond what is necessary in a resting state. This process drives the tight muscle/pain syndrome (trigger regions) and by finding and down-regulating these trigger regions the Autonomic Nervous System can return to a state of normalcy - thereby allowing the individual to attain pain free living.

My clients have seen benefits right after their first session. Some comments from my clients included:

  • "Wow! I've never had that much range of motion in my neck"
  • "You're kidding the calf pain is gone, it has been there for weeks"
  • The headache I had when I came is completely gone and I feel calm and energized"
  • "Hey, my jaw does not hurt to open, and I can swallow without feeling like I am choking"

....the list goes on.

The founder of the system; John Iams claims PRRT works very quickly, he says if you don't feel substantial change after four session then the therapy is not for you; it either works quickly or fails quickly, this way you don't have to spend prolonged time on it wondering if it will work for you.

I am convinced of the benefits of this therapy and this is reflected in the paradigm shift I have taken in dealing with patients coming to see me for musculoskeletal conditions.
